Ray Can't Detect My DISH Hopper or Joey over Wi-Fi

If you are a DISH Network customer with a Hopper or Joey satellite receiver, your Ray can control your receiver over Wi-Fi and provide special DVR and On Demand features. In order to access these features, your Ray and DISH receiver must be on the same Wi-Fi network and they must be paired with each other during setup or in Ray's settings.
Depending on the current setup of your DISH receiver and home Wi-Fi network, when you attempt to pair, you may see a message on Ray "We did not detect any DISH receivers over Wi-Fi". If your DISH receiver is not a Hopper or Joey, this message is expected and you should select the "Set up without Wi-Fi" option. If you do have a Hopper or Joey, please follow the steps below using your DISH remote control.
  1. Press the remote's "Menu" button to bring up the Menu on your TV screen.
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Go to “Network Setup"
  4. Go to “Broadband"
  5. Select “Wireless Setup"
  6. Select “Wizard"
  7. See the list of available networks.
  8. Select the same network that your Ray is connected to.
  9. Enter the network password (if applicable).
  10. Confirm you are now connected.

Now go back to your Ray and...

  • If you are still on the "We did not detect..." screen, simply select the "Try again" option. This will perform the network scan again and find your Hopper or Joey.
  • If you are still in Ray Setup but have passed this screen, please navigate back to it using the "Back" button at the bottom of the screen.
  • If your Ray is already setup, go to Settings > Devices > DISH Receiver > Change Device and follow the on screen instructions.
