Specifying Device Inputs

During Ray remote setup, each time you finish connecting a device, Ray will ask you to select its inputsThis means how that device is connected to your TV and, if you use one, to your A/V receiver or soundbar.

Note While the images refer to watching cable, the same steps apply for all devices that you set up, including DISH receiver, DIRECTV receiver, over-the-air antenna, Apple TV, Roku, Xbox, DVD player, Blu-ray player and other media players.

1. This screen shows your TV and, if you have connected a soundbar or A/V receiver, that too. Tap "Select input" next to your TV.

Do you have an A/V switch? You'll be able to add it after setup. Use your original A/V switch remote if you need to change its inputs while you set up Ray. Learn more here: Connecting with Your A/V Switch.

2. From the list, select the input you switch to on your TV when you use the device. If you're not sure which input you use, tap the "Test" button to check. Learn more about inputs here: Inputs and how to identify them.

3a. If you have connected an A/V receiver or soundbar:

From the screen in Step 1, tap "Select input" next to your A/V receiver or soundbar. From the list on the following screen, tap the input you switch to on your A/V receiver or soundbar to use the device you're adding.

If you're not sure which input you use, tap the "Test" button to check. Learn more about inputs here: Inputs and how to identify them.

If you don’t use your A/V receiver or soundbar for this device, select “Not in Use” and continue to Step 4.

3b. If you have not connected your audio device but you use it for the device you’re currently setting up:

You will see a link that says “I also use an A/V receiver or soundbar.” Tap this and Ray will guide you through setting up your audio device.

4. Once you've selected the inputs, tap the "Continue" button.

5. Ray will next confirm that the inputs are correct. Tap the "Fire away” button.

6. Do you see your device active on your TV screen? If so, tap “Yes” to continue your Ray setup.

If not, try changing the inputs you’ve selected by tapping the “Change your selection” link and follow instructions again from Step 1.

f you're certain you’ve selected the correct inputs, tap “No” and Ray will guide you through some troubleshooting steps.

Do you have an A/V switch? You can now connect it to Ray. Learn more here: Connecting with Your A/V Switch.
